The Montreal Canadiens announced Friday that they traded defenceman Jayden Struble to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft. “Struble played 174 career NHL games with the Canadiens since making his debut in 2023-24, registering seven goals and 28 assists,” the statement reads. “The 25-year-old defenceman also served 167 penalty minutes in four seasons with Montreal. The Cumberland, RI native took part in 14 career playoff contests with the Canadiens.” Struble was selected by Montreal in the second round, 46th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft. In a statement, the Predators expressed enthusiasm about acquiring the defenceman. “Jayden Struble is a 25-year-old physical defender who will add mobility and a hard-to-play-against quality that will help our backend,” the statement reads. “We are excited to watch his growth and look forward to him being a player who can grow with us.” Struble had previously spent four seasons at Northeastern University. He also played 24 games with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.
