Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a fight escalated downtown and a man was stabbed near a metro station. The SPVM reports that 911 calls at 9:15 a.m. prompted officers to respond to Peel Street at Maisonneuve Boulevard West downtown. On scene, first responders found a 44-year-old man with upper body injuries caused by a sharp object. SPVM spokesperson Emmanuel Provencher said a medical assessment of his condition is pending. “An altercation involving two or more people is believed to have broken out before escalating leading to the assault of the victim,” said Provencher. The investigation is ongoing, and there have been no arrests.
