A man in his 50s drowned on Saturday afternoon in the Lanaudière region. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2 p.m. in the Chemin des Chutes area of Mandeville, where a man in his fifties was found in cardiac arrest. “According to the information gathered, the man was swimming when he reportedly failed to resurface,” said Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). “He was reportedly rescued by bystanders before being taken to hospital, where, sadly, he was pronounced dead.” A coroner’s inquest is underway to establish the circumstances of the incident.
