One man is in hospital, and another has been arrested after a stabbing in Montreal’s downtown area early Monday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 3:15 a.m. about the incident in an alleyway between Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Clarke Street near the Old Brewery Mission. “When police arrived on site, they located the victim, a 49-year-old man,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “He was conscious and injured to the upper body.” The man was transported to hospital, and his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. He is expected to meet with investigators shortly. “According to the first information, a conflict would have escalated between the victim and the suspect, who know each other,” said Chèvrefils. A security perimeter is in place to allow officers to analyze the scene.
