Habs game and construction means multiple Montreal-area road closures

Those planning on taking advantage of the Victoria/Patriot/Planting Day weekend and going for a drive should note that certain routes will be obstructed due to construction.

In addition, the Montreal Canadiens and Victoire games on Saturday will cause congestion near the Bell Centre downtown and Place Bell in Laval, respectively.

Planning a trip in advance is advised.

Victoire and Canadiens playoff

The Montreal Canadiens game starts at 7 p.m., and streets near the Bell Centre, in particular René-Lévesque Boulevard and Canadiens-de-Montreal Avenue, will be closed. Avoiding the area is advised.

The Victoire game starts at 2 p.m., and expect congestion around Corbusier and Concorde boulevards.

Souligny Avenue East

• From Friday at 10:30 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 a.m., Souligny Avenue East will be closed between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets.

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (A-25)

Southbound

• From Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 9 a.m., the tunnel will be closed between Exit 5 (Sherbrooke Street) in Montreal and Route-132 in Longueuil.

Northbound

• From Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 9 a.m. and on Saturday to Sunday during same time, the tunnel will be closed between Exit 90 (Route-132) on Highway 20 West in Longueuil and the Yves-Prévost Boulevard access ramp on Highway 25 North in Montreal.

By default, the following will close 30 minutes before:

• The Route-132 East and West access ramps (Exits 89-N).
• The l’Île-Charron Street access.
• Access from Curatteau and Sherbrooke streets

Ville-Marie and Viger tunnels (R-136)

Eastbound

• From Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the tunnel heading into Montreal will be closed between Exit 4 (Montagne Street, Saint-Jacques Street) and the on-ramp from Atateken Street.
• From Sunday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 9 a.m., two of four lanes on the Ville-Marie Expressway (R-136) East will close between the Turcot Interchange and Exit 3 (Guy Street).
• From Monday at 11 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 a.m., two of four lanes on the Ville-Marie Expressway East (R-136) will be closed between the Turcot Interchange and Exit 4 (Atwater Avenue).

By default, the following will close 30 minutes prior:

• Access points at Notre-Dame / de la Cathédrale streets, A-10
• West (Bonaventure) / Robert-Bourassa Blvd. and Atateken Street

Westbound

• From Sunday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 9 a.m., the Ville-Marie Tunnel west (R-136) will be closed between Exit 5 (A-10 West, Samuel De Champlain Bridge, Robert Bourassa Boulevard) and the Turcot Interchange.
• By default, at 10 p.m., access from Lucien-L’Allier and du Fort streets. will be closed

Route-138 (LaSalle)

• From Friday at 9 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 a.m., on Route-138 in both directions, Clement Street exits, and on-ramps will be closed.

Turcot Interchange (A-15)

• On Saturday, from 12:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., the Decarie Expressway (A-15) North ramp will be closed in the Turcot Interchange.
• From Friday at 10 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m., the Saint-Jacques Street and Sherbrooke Street on ramps to the Decarie Expressway (A-15) North will be closed in the Turcot.
• On Saturday from 12:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., three of four lanes will be closed on the Decarie Expressway (A-15) North between the Turcot Interchange and the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Tunnel.
• Starting Friday at midnight, one of two lanes on the Route-136 West ramp to the Decarie Expressway (A-15) North will be closed.
• From Friday at midnight to Saturday at 8 a.m., the Decarie Expressway (A-15) ramp from Highway 20 East at the Turcot will be closed.
• In addition, the ramp to the Ville Marie Expressway (R-136) East and from Vérendrye Boulevard on the Decarie Expressway (A-15) will be closed.
• From Monday at 11 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 a.m., three of four lanes will be closed on the Highway 15 North ramp from Vérendrye Boulevard.

By default, at 10 p.m., the following will close:

• Access from Girouard Avenue
• The Route 136 West ramp to Highway 15 South.
• The ramps leading from the Decarie Expressway (A-15) South to Highway 20 West and from Highway 20 East to the Decarie North.
• The ramp leading from Highway 20 East to Highway 15 South.

Highway 20

Westbound

• From Saturday at 11:30 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., Highway 20 West will be closed between Exit 65 (R-138 East, Saint-Jacques Street, Angrignon Boulevard) and the on-ramp from Route 138 East (Honoré-Mercier Bridge).

By default, the following will close starting at 10 p.m.:

• Access from Highway 15 North.
• Access to the reserved lane at Tanneries Boulevard.
• Access from Tanneries Boulevard to the reserved lane.
• Access from Angrignon and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue boulevards.

Eastbound

• From Monday at 11 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 a.m., Highway 20 East will be closed between Exit 62 (1st Avenue, Saint-Pierre Ave., Dollard Ave.) and the on-ramp from Saint-Pierre Avenue.

REM

Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, are the inaugural weekend of the REM’s Anse-à-l’Orme branch in Montreal’s West Island.

Here are the REM schedules for these two days:

Schedule with standard fares:

• Between Brossard and Deux-Montagnes stations: 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. (regular service)
• Between Anse-à-l’Orme and Des Sources stations: 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Free access schedule (on the Anse-à-l’Orme line only):

• Between Anse-à-l’Orme and Des Sources stations: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
