Forward Oliver Kapanen has a lower-body injury, and his condition will be reevaluated on a daily basis, the Montreal Canadiens announced Monday. Kapanen played 20:18 in the Habs’ preseason game against the Senators on Saturday in Ottawa. The Canadiens lost 4-3. In 82 games last season, Kapanen recorded 22 goals and 15 assists. Meanwhile, defenseman Kaiden Guhle wore a jersey indicating he was to avoid contact during practice at the CN Sports Complex. Guhle is still recovering from adductor muscle surgery he underwent on Aug. 10. The Canadiens will kick off their 2026–2027 season on Tuesday with a road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
