HALIFAX - Police say a 41-year-old man is facing assault charges after an alleged attack on a Metro Transit bus driver in downtown Halifax.

Police also say a Good Samaritan who tried to intervene was hit by a car during the incident Thursday afternoon.

Police say a dispute had developed between the bus driver and another man driving a car.

At one point, police say the man got out of the car and the bus driver was hit in the chest.

When the man tried to leave the scene, police say the Good Samaritan stood in front of his car to block him.

Police say the man put the car in gear and allegedly hit the citizen.

The suspect is accused of uttering threats, assault and assault with a weapon.
