THUNDER BAY, Ont. - A 46-year-old man accused of helping his wife commit suicide in a Thunder Bay, Ont., motel room will remain behind bars until his next court date.
Peter Bernard Fonteece is charged with criminal negligence causing death and assisting suicide in the death of his wife, 38-year-old Yanisa Fonteece.
Fonteece made a brief court appearance today and was ordered to remain in custody until his next court date on Friday.
Police say the Fonteeces had left their home in Waterloo and were headed to western Canada when their vehicle broke down in Thunder Bay on Feb. 2.
Police have not yet located Yanisa Fonteece's family and investigators are making a plea for people who knew the couple to come forward.
