Viral undereye patches: Do they work?

CTV London’s Lauren Stallone looks into the viral trend behind undereye patches. What do they do – and do they work?

Undereye patches are a popular beauty product that has gained traction on social media.

London-based esthetician and owner of INSKIN Studio Melissa Rossi said if used correctly, these patches can be beneficial.

“Most eye masks are designed to hydrate the undereye, smooth out fine lines from hydration and reduce a little bit of puffiness,” said Rossi. “They’re great for a boost before an event or if you’ve had a late night.”

The viral patches have also become a major celebrity staple with some of the world’s biggest stars like Harry Styles and Dwayne Johnson elevating their GRWM (Get Ready With Me) routine.

“Social media plays a huge role right now in skin care trends,” said Rossi. “They can really take a product, ingredient, or treatment and make it go viral overnight.”

Rossi said it is important to know what works for your specific skin type before hopping on the trend.

“I always suggest it is best to seek out professional help,” said Rossi. “However, I do think the role social media plays is a good thing because it is helpful for awareness.”
