The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has deemed the use of a police dog during a London break-in lawful. In the early morning hours on Feb. 28, London police were sent to a home near Dundas Street and Clarke Street after the homeowners reported an attempted break-in. The police dog found the man hiding in the backyard in a crawl space under a deck. The SIU said the man didn’t come out or give any sign he was there, despite being asked to by the officers. The dog was released into the space while still on the leash, where the man was bit on his left arm. The man was arrested and diagnosed with a fractured left elbow, as well as the dog bites. The SIU said there are no reasonable grounds to believe a criminal offense was committed by London police.
