If you’re into smoked or saucy ribs, then Ribbers Row at Victoria Park in downtown London is the place to be this Civic Holiday long weekend. Those at Dinosaur Smokehouse are among those who are ready to serve. “We have experienced ribbers and we have created a special rub and sauce that makes our ribs special,” said Oscar Pensa from Dinosaur Smokehouse. Fat Boys is among some of the hometown favourites, and they are back again this year for their 27th time. “We are a family and we love engaging with the community year after year with our special ingredients and food,” said Ricki Kefalidis from Fat Boys. As a former winner of the best ribs, Kefalidis understands that they need to bring their best effort every time. “Honestly I say this every year you can’t find a bad rib along ribbers row here in London,” said Kefalidis. Fred Rovers couldn’t wait to sink his teeth into some ribs saying, “We come each year and gather during our lunch break.” Robin Palmer came in from Port Stanley with her 84-year-old mother Dolly Magee. “We would come every year when I lived in London. I love the ribs,” said Palmer. “The ribs are great every year and I love the different sauces and seasonings. The beans are good too.” Besides the 10 ribbers, there are more than 60 food and craft venders throughout the park. Organizer Doug Hillier says it’s always a good time. “Its great food and entertainment because the ribbers love to put on a show,” he said. The London Ribfest is on now until Civic Holiday Monday night.
