Southwestern Ontario is set for a warm and sunny start to the holiday weekend, although rain could briefly interrupt outdoor plans later on, according to CTV News meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Another banner day with lots of sunshine,” Atchison said, forecasting afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 20s on Friday. Conditions are expected to change slightly as the weekend progresses. Saturday will bring a mix of sun and cloud, with scattered showers developing through the day. There remains a slight chance of showers on Sunday as a weather system moves through the region. “A little tricky system coming in Saturday into Sunday, so that could push some of your plans indoors for a brief period,” Atchison said. Despite the risk of rain, temperatures are expected to remain seasonable through the long weekend, with daytime highs ranging from 25 C to 26 C. The forecast improves again for the holiday Monday, with sunshine returning and temperatures reaching about 26 C. Warmer weather is on the horizon for next week, with highs expected to climb to 29 C and 30 C by Tuesday and Wednesday. “We’re in for some heat. It’ll start to feel like the mid-30s,” Atchison said.
