Two people are facing drug and related charges after police seized more than 1.8 kilograms of cocaine and nearly $36,000 in cash during a search of a Sarnia home, according to police. The Sarnia Police Service Drug Unit used a search warrant at a home on Cromwell Street on Wednesday. Shortly after 4 p.m., members of the Emergency Response Team entered the home and arrested two people. Police said a subsequent search turned up 1,861 grams of cocaine, approximately $35,895 in Canadian currency and digital scales. The two accused, both 38 and from Sarnia, are jointly charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. One of the accused was held for a bail hearing, while the other was released on an undertaking with a future court date. Investigators estimate the cocaine has a potential street value of about $186,000, based on an approximate retail price of $100 per gram.
