Police make first arrest in shooting death of Sarnia man, second suspect considered armed and dangerous

One person has been arrested, and another has a warrant out for their arrest in connection to the homicide investigation for the shooting death of 20-year-old Dane Nisbet.

In an update provided by Sarnia police, officers say they were called to an Exmouth Street bar around 11 p.m. Thursday, just two hours before the murder of Nisbet, for reports of two males with a gun (possibly two guns).

The pair had fled the scene before police arrived, but officers searched the area extensively for the suspects and their vehicle.

In connection with its investigation, Sarnia Police Service identified two women who were allegedly in the company of the two male suspects, and arrested them Friday. However, police determined the women are not believed to be party to the offence and were later released unconditionally.

Then, on Saturday, investigators obtained search warrants for two London, Ont. residences, one in the 200 block of Boullee Street and the other on Stonehenge Place.

With the assistance of the London Police Service, Sarnia police searched the residences and located and seized the vehicle that was involved in the shooting.

Also during their search, police say they found one of the suspects. He was placed under arrest and taken to Sarnia police headquarters.

Oudom ‘Richard’ Bun, 23, of Stonehenge Place in London, has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

He is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing Sunday by video.

According to police, the primary suspect in this murder investigation is still at large. They have identified as Kyaw Doe.

At the time of this offence, Doe was subject to a court order prohibiting him from possessing firearms, police say.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Doe, 24, of Boullee Street in London. He will be facing charges of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Investigators believe that Doe went into hiding shortly after the murder of Nisbet and is actively evading police capture.

Doe allegedly has ties to criminal elements in both western and northern Ontario, and has people there who may be assisting him. He is not believed to be in the Sarnia area.

He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
