Monday wraps up hot spell, temperatures tumble Tuesday

High temperatures continue across southern Ontario, staying in the upper 20s.

The heat isn’t expected to last.

“We have a cold front on the move and that will bring an end to the heat across the region,” said CTV London’s meteorologist Julie Atchison.

Overnight, increasing cloudiness and chance of showers moves into the region.

Early Tuesday morning, temperatures reach a high of 19. “By afternoon we will see cooler air arrive,” said Atchison.

Rain is expected to continue into late Tuesday afternoon, but by Wednesday, the weather will be back to full sunshine. “We’re in for a gorgeous holiday weekend,” said Atchison.

Monday: Sunny. Wind becoming southwest 20 km/h this afternoon. High 28. Humidex 32. UV index 5 or moderate.

Monday night: Clear. Increasing cloudiness near midnight then 60 per cent chance of showers overnight. Risk of a thunderstorm overnight. Wind southwest 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low 17.

Tuesday: Cloudy. 60 per cent chance of showers early in the morning. A few showers beginning in the morning and ending late in the afternoon. Risk of a thunderstorm in the morning and early in the afternoon. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h in the afternoon. High 19 with temperature falling to 14 in the afternoon. UV index 2 or low.

Wednesday: Sunny. High 16.

Thursday: Sunny. High 16.

Friday: Sunny. High 18.

Saturday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 18.
