Inter-community transit to continue running until 2030 following provincial funding boost

Middlesex County says it is receiving $3.4M from the province which will allow them to extend inter-community transit services through to March 2030.

Middlesex County is receiving millions of dollars in funding from the province to keep inter-community transit operating for another four years.

The $3.4 million in funding will keep the service running through to March 2030.

There are four routes in the Middlesex County service:

• Lucan to London
• Woodstock to London
• Dorchester to St. Thomas and Southwold
• London to Sarnia

Each route has stops along the way in order to serve smaller towns.

The London to Sarnia route was previously part of Strathroy Caradoc’s regional transit service.

The funding comes through the Ontario Transit Investment Fund.

The Ontario government announced last week they were investing nearly $15 million to continue supporting transit services in rural communities.
