The lineup for the 50th anniversary of the Home County Music & Art Festival has been announced. The event will return to Victoria Park on July 24 and 25 with a diverse roster that organizers say honours Canadian artists and the festival’s roots while embracing its future. “This year’s lineup celebrates that legacy through artists with a strong connection to Home County’s history while also welcoming new voices to the Home County stages,” said Artistic Director, Farrell Tremblay. Leading the bill are Indigenous electronic music pioneers The Halluci Nation and acclaimed indie-folk favourites The Rural Alberta Advantage. The lineup also includes Boogát, Wyatt C. Louis, Ariel Posen, Alysha Brilla, Valdy, Ken Whiteley, Nicolette & The Nobodies, The Bookends, Emily Garber, School House and Emma Lamontagne. Among the artists returning for the anniversary celebration is Valdy, who performed at the inaugural Home County Folk Festival in 1974. The festival is a volunteer-run, non-profit festival celebrating folk, roots and contemporary music, arts and community. The festival’s full name is now the Donaldson Home County Music & Art Festival after its presenting sponsor, Donaldson Home Services, a local family-run business.
