Whether you’re excited to find out who will become American’s next president, or your just glad two-plus years of U.S. campaigning are finally drawing to close, chances are you will be watching the election tonight. What better way to watch the, er, celebration, than with some election-inspired eats.

Speaking on CTV’s Your Morning on Tuesday, food blogger Julie Albert shared her ideas for a red, white and blue bash as history unfolds south of the border.

Inspired by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s cheeky shoulder shimmy at a debate in September, Albert recommends the oven-baked, cornmeal crusted (left) wing chicken wings, complete with two different kinds of dipping sauces: blue cheese and apricot.

“If you’re a right-winger you can eat them as well,” Albert said with a laugh. “But eat them in secret.”

If you’re looking for Republican-themed fun, Albert suggests her Trumped-up beer braised BBQ chicken sliders. “You can have these in 30 minutes,” Albert said.

And don’t sniff at the Trumptini, which features cherry vodka, a splash of grenadine syrup and cranberry juice.

Watch the video to see Albert describe her favourite U.S. Election Day party recipes, including Mexican chocolate cookies, the Hilarita cocktail and “Moving to Canada”-inspired classic caesars.
