MANILA, Philippines - Officials in the southern Philippines say a mudslide triggered by days of heavy rain has buried houses, killing at least five people, including children.

It also left several others missing.

Rescuer Johannes Fortaleza says a mother and her two children were among the dead pulled out from the mountainside village of Upper Ulip in Compostela Valley province's Monkayo township.

Village official Glenda Verallio says the mudslide tumbled down the mountain slope.

It destroyed several houses and buried residents as they were walking along a road.

She says the number of people listed as missing could still go higher.
