A Montreal man has been arrested more than a year after a Guelph resident reported someone had fraudulently used his Aeroplan account to book several flights, police say. In January 2025, a Guelph man reported falling victim to a scam that resulted in his cellphone being compromised. Police said the victim took steps to improve his account security, including changing passwords, but did not update the email address associated with his Aeroplan account. “The account was later used to book several flights within Canada. The victim lost the equivalent of nearly $2,100 in points,” police said in a media release. On Friday, Quebec police arrested a 23-yeaar-old Montreal man and charged him with fraud under $5,000.
