A driver has been charged thanks to a tip from the public. Guelph Police Service officers were called to a parking lot near Victoria Road North and Eramosa Road on 6:45 p.m. after a witness said they saw a man get out of vehicle while drinking alcohol. When officers spoke to the man, they said his speech was slurred and they could smell alcohol on his breath. He was arrested and taken back to a police detachment where a test revealed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. The 34-year-old man was charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his car impounded for seven days.
