Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a youth was abducted during a Cambridge robbery on Friday. Police were called to the area of Saginaw Parkway and Townline Road around 9:48 p.m. When officers arrived they found a youth who was seriously hurt. They were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers determined the youth had been forced into a dark-coloured van by five people they did not know. Inside, the victim was physically assaulted and threatened with a gun. They were then forced to transfer money into a cryptocurrency wallet, before later being released. The suspects left the scene and were last seen heading down Townline Rd. All five suspects were described as Black men in their 20s. They were wearing dark clothes and face coverings. Police have asked anyone who may have seen the incident take place or has video of the area around the time it happened, to call them at 519-570-9777, extension 6370.
