Wire cut from telephone poles in North Dumfries

A wire theft in North Dumfries has resulted in two arrests.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to a reported theft in progress at Branchton Road, near Morrison Road, on Saturday at 6 a.m.

“Officers arrived and located two individuals near a quantity of wire that had been cut from between two telephone poles,” a media release said.

A 29-year-old man and 29-year-old woman from Cambridge were arrested.

Police said both were charged with theft over $5,000 and mischief over $5,000.
