Waterloo Region is not out of the woods yet when it comes to snowy weather, as Environment Canada reported more snow and potentially hazardous conditions after an already messy weekend. The agency put out a weather advisory at 6:41 a.m. Monday, warning residents in the Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge areas of another 5 cm of snow Monday morning. Lake effect flurries were expected continue through the morning and taper off later in the day. Blowing snow and rapidly changing conditions could cause low visibility and make travelling hazardous for drivers in some areas. Environment Canada said residents should prepare for worsening conditions on their commute and take extra care when walking or driving. The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) posted on social media at 10:54 a.m., echoing Environment Canada’s statement. WRPS said drivers could experience extremely poor conditions on rural roads in the region. They said blowing and drifting snow was a factor and that visibility was “very poor with many white out conditions.” WRPS said plows and first responders were responding to multiple incidents Monday.
