Male found dead in Kitchener home, suspect in custody: WRPS

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating a Kitchener homicide.

Police responded to the area of Garden Path Place and Countrystone Crescent around 4:30 p.m., on Friday for a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male dead inside of a home.

“At this current moment, we are still working with family and those involved,” Const. Chris Iden with Waterloo regional police told CTV News.

“One of the things that we’re working on is just identifying what took place at the time of the incident.”

A cause of death has not yet been determined but a post-coroner’s autopsy has been ordered.

During the investigation, police identified and found a suspect near Ardelt Avenue.

“Ardelt is not near that [Garden Path Place] area. That was given to us through other information that we were able to obtain,” Iden said.

A 26-year-old man from Kitchener has been taken into custody. Investigators believe the two men were known to each other but police said they’re not related.

There will be an increased police presence in the Garden Path Place area as officers look for witnesses and additional information.
