Crews worked to put out flames at two homes in Waterloo’s Laurelwood neighbourhood on Tuesday. Videos and photos showed thick, black smoke rising above Creekside Drive and Buttercup Court just before 11 a.m. The siding on the homes melted from the intensity of the flames. Officials for Waterloo Fire Rescue said the cause remains undetermined but it’s believed the fire started outside between the two properties. Only one family has been displaced. Officials said the early damage estimate was between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Waterloo Regional Police did said no injuries were reported. More to come.
