A G1 driver has lost their licence after Brantford Police Service officers said they witnessed dangerous behaviour on the road. Officers had stopped near the corner of Colborne Street and Lynnwood Drive on Oct. 29 around 11:47 p.m. while they were writing notes for an unrelated investigation. While they were parked, the officers heard tires squealing. They said they saw a truck driver almost lose control while fishtailing on the road. The vehicle then sped off. When officers stopped the truck, they discovered the person behind the wheel held a G1 licence but did not have an accompanying driver in the vehicle as required by law. The driver also did not have insurance and had never registered the truck in their name. The licence plate that was attached was not registered to the truck or to the driver. Police charged the driver with Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver, operating a vehicle on a highway without insurance, stunt driving, using a licence plate that was not authorized for a vehicle and failure to apply for permit after becoming a vehicle’s owner. The driver’s licence has been suspended for 30 days and the truck was impounded for 14 days.
