A collision investigation took an unusual turn in Guelph, Ont. On Tuesday, around 4 a.m., someone reported that an SUV pulling a trailer had crashed in the east-end of the city. Officers who responded to the call found the driver asleep behind the wheel. When the 53-year-old Guelph man woke up, police said he showed signs of impairment. The officers then asked him to hand over the keys to the SUV. Instead, he gave them a potato. Police did not say if the vegetable had been cooked or not. Multiple narcotic pipes were also found inside the SUV. Police charged the driver with operation while impaired and possession of a schedule I drug.
