Worldwide cases of H5N1

On Jan. 8, 2014, North America’s first human case of H5N1 was confirmed after an Alberta woman died from the virus.

But worldwide, a total of 385 people out of 649 reported cases have died from H5N1, according to the latest available data reported to WHO (World Health Organization). 

Below is a map highlighting which countries have reported human cases of Avian Influenza A (H5N1) -- and how many deaths have resulted from those cases -- according to data available up to Jan. 24, 2014.
