Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are recalling three crib models manufactured by Shermag Inc.

The recall specifically involves drop-side rail hardware that can break or fail, which poses a risk to babies of suffocation, strangulation or falling.

The recalled cribs are made in China. They include model numbers 202647, 272547 and 211047 as part of Shermag's "Claire de Lune," "Fairy Tales," and "Dormez Vous" furniture collections.

Full recall information can be found here.

Both agencies are asking consumers to carefully inspect their cribs, and to stop use immediately if any hardware appears broken, loose, missing or deformed.

Any consumer with a crib subject to the recall can contact Shermag for a free repair kit that converts the drop-side to a fixed side crib.

Health Canada has received no incident or injury reports in relation to the defect, but the CPSC is aware of 21 incidents in the U.S. No injuries have been reported.
