Canadians could get more transparency about the actual cost of air travel when they book their next flight.

The government is expected to announce new regulations Friday that will require airlines to include all fees and taxes in advertised ticket prices.

The regulations will take effect next year.

Currently, advertised prices may not include airport taxes, fees, charges and surcharges.

An advertised flight for $199 from Toronto to Ottawa may actually be closer to $300, but currently, consumers might have trouble finding the reasons behind the additional cost.
