Twentieth Century Fox has acquired Lee's life rights with the goal of creating an action-adventure film with Lee portrayed as the titular character, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be set in the 1970s and helmed by the producers of "Twilight," "The Maze Runner" and the upcoming "Power Rangers" film.
In partnership with different artists, Lee helped create some of today's most popular superheroes over the years, including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Iron Man, Thor and the X-Men.
The tone of the film is described as similar to that of "Kingsman: The Secret Service," a 2014 spy action-comedy.
