Ahead of unveiling the second season this June, Netflix has ordered 13 additional episodes of its comedy set in a women's prison.

"Orange Is the New Black" will go on to a third season, according to a post on Instagram from actress Laura Prepon. Season two of the comedy series, which was developed by "Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan, will arrive June 6 on Netflix.

"Orange Is the New Black" follows Piper (Taylor Schilling) during her stay in a federal penitentiary. The young woman is sentenced to 15 months for having transported drugs for her former lesbian lover, played by Laura Prepon ("That '70s Show").

As a result, she is forced to trade a comfortable life with her fiancé Larry (Jason Biggs) for an orange jumpsuit and the gritty living conditions of a women's prison. On the inside, she ends up striking an unexpected alliance with a group of eccentric and loud-talking inmates.

The series is inspired by the true story of Piper Kerman, who spent 15 months in a Connecticut prison between 2004 and 2005. Kerman recounted her experience in "Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison."
