Straight from the I-had-no-idea-they-were-even-dating files comes news that Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and punk princess Avril Lavigne are engaged.
People magazine broke the story late Tuesday on its website, teasing a feature to be published on Friday.
The magazine reports that the two have been dating for about six months, since they got together in February to co-write a song for Lavigne’s upcoming album.
Kroeger, 37, reportedly proposed to Lavigne, 27, with a 14-carat diamond engagement ring on Aug. 8.
While it will be Kroeger’s first marriage, it would seem Lavigne has a fondness for lead singers. Her marriage to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley ended in 2009.
