Pop superstar Justin Bieber is planning to blast off into space.

The singer and his manager, Scooter Braun, are the latest celebrities to sign up as space tourists on a Virgin Galactic suborbital flight, according to a tweet from Virgin founder Richard Branson.

In a tweet posted Wednesday and re-tweeted to Bieber’s 40 million-plus followers, Branson congratulates the pop star and his long-time manager for getting involved.

Other high-profile celebrities who have signed on for the suborbital flight include Ashton Kutcher and Leonardo DiCaprio.

They are among the 600 “future astronauts” who are willing to pay $250,000 (US) for seat on a space flight to the edges of the earth’s atmosphere where they will be able to experience weightlessness.
