Edmonton police say neither speed nor alcohol are factors in a late August crash that killed a 27-year-old woman, but are still investigating the circumstances that may have led to her death. Around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 25, the woman was riding a bike on 106 Street when she was hit by a delivery truck travelling west on 81 Avenue. EMS took the biker to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The delivery truck driver stayed on scene and had no injuries. The woman died of her injuries on Sept. 12. Investigators have issued traffic violations under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to stop, police say, but have not laid any charges as of Friday. The major collisions unit continues to review the circumstances of the crash.
