RCMP have laid charges in two impaired driving cases in Red Deer last month, one involving a vehicle hitting a home. On Aug. 27 at 10:15 p.m., Red Deer RCMP were called to the Highland Green Estates neighbourhood where a vehicle hit a parked car and a home. “Significant damage” was done to the vehicle and the home, according to police. “The driver of the suspect vehicle initially fled from the scene and later returned, cooperating with police,” RCMP said in a news release. At the time of the crash, no one was in the parked vehicle or the home and no injuries were sustained. The 29-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested, and issued a 90-day driving suspension and 30-day vehicle impoundment. She was released on conditions and charged with: The 29-year-old driver is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 9. At 10:42 p.m. the same night, police identified a second impaired driver in downtown Red Deer. During “proactive patrols,” police arrested and charged a 32-year-old on outstanding warrants with: The 32-year-old driver is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.
