As the Strathearn Art Walk’s 13th year comes to a close Sunday, event producer Jenny McAllister said it’s been a great opportunity for artists to connect with the community. “I love the opportunity that people have to talk to the artists and learn from them,” McAllister told CTV News Edmonton. “Why are they doing the things they’re doing? How did they become an artist? How did they learn their craft?” The event saw 364 artists over three days – a slight departure from its typical Saturday-Sunday dates, this year was the first that kicked off the art walk on Friday with a night market. “It’s nice to still have opportunities to get out and see people, run into neighbours and even reconnect after the summer,” said McAllister. The art walk hosted a variety of artists including musicians, visual artists, jewellers, and other artisans. About 30,000 people were expected to attend the event over the weekend.
