St. Albert reinforces access to city services for payments in case of postal strike

The City of St. Albert is setting up alternate ways for residents to access or pay for services as it anticipates a postal strike later this week.

It said on its website a potential strike by Canada Post starting May 22 has led it to bolster access to help with:

Property assessment and tax notices

• Mailed and emailed to property owners on May 16. Payment is due June 30;
• Ways to pay: at your financial institution, online, in-person at St. Albert Place 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday to Friday, or drop off in mail slot after hours (no cash).

Utility bills

• Pre-authorized withdrawal: to set up, call 780-459-1520 (option 2) or email city utilities; [e-mail]
• In person: Customer Service, main floor, St. Albert Place, 5 St. Anne Street. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday to Friday;
• Extended in-person hours late June: front counter service hours June 23-30 will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m.;
• Online and telephone banking: Pay through most financial institutions;
• Credit card: Log in online and use their credit card to pay their utility account balance;
• Drop box: St. Albert Place, right side of the main door. By cheque or money order (no cash). For after business hours, weekends and holidays.

Dog licences

• Online: Use your five-digit account number. Payment methods Visa, Mastercard and American Express;
• MyCity: To purchase licences and replacement tags, update a spayed/neutered status;
• Online and telephone banking: Pay through most financial institutions. Payee name, City of St. Albert Dog Licence.
• In person: Customer Service, main floor, St. Albert Place, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday to Friday or at RCMP detachment 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Business licences

• During a postal disruption, hard copies of licences can’t be mailed. Call Business Licensing 780-459-1618 for options.
