A motorcyclist is facing charges after Red Deer RCMP say he was clocked going 173 km/hr in a posted 70 km/hr zone. Mounties say the investigation first began when they found a video of a motorcycle driver fleeing a peace officer at an “extreme high rate of speed and committing numerous traffic violations,” according to a news release. Investigators learned the video was from May 26. The motorcyclist was travelling along 67 Street when RCMP clocked him going more than double the speed limit. He was carrying a passenger. A 22-year-old Red Deer resident is charged with flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in connection with the incident. He was released on an appearance notice and will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in August.
