Evergreen Catholic Schools says a person with a confirmed case of measles attended Spruce Grove’s St. Marguerite Catholic School while they were recently infected. The school board said on Monday it was informed by Primary Care Alberta (PCA). “We are working closely with PCA Public Health to ensure all appropriate measures are taken to protect the health and safety of our students, staff and families,” said the school board in a statement. PCA said case details are confidential and would not comment further. “Anytime there is a case in a school, public health officials will work closely with the school and parents to identify and contact anyone at risk of being exposed and reduce the risk of measles spreading,” said a statement from Primary and Preventative Health Services. “Anyone with measles or symptoms of measles must stay at home and away from others until cleared.” The notice comes a few days after a measles outbreak was reported for all of Parkland County, which includes Spruce Grove and Stony Plain west of Edmonton.
