Alberta has a total of 56 wildfires burning in its Forest Protection Area as of Thursday morning. Twenty-three of those fires are out of control and five are being held. The County of Grande Prairie has downgraded an evacuation order and alert in specific areas due to favourable weather conditions. At 5 p.m. on Thursday, the county released a statement saying everyone north of Township Road 710 to Township Road 740 and east of Range Road 132 to Range Road 130 can return home. The area still remains under an evacuation alert. An evacuation order remains in effect for everyone north of Township Road 710 to 740 and east of the British Columbia-Alberta border to Range Road 132. Residents in areas under evacuation alert should be prepared to leave on short notice. Whenever an evacuation order is issued, residents have 30 minutes to leave. The blaze burning nearby, also known as the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire, has grown to 26,628 hectares and is still considered out of control. The MD of Greenview cancelled an evacuation order for Greenview No. 16 just after 9:30 a.m. The Forestry Trunk Road is now open, Alberta Emergency Alert said, but asked people to use caution in the area.
