Eight acres of Fort Edmonton Park has been transformed into a winter wonderland for its annual and award-winning Christmas market. While the festival has more than 150 vendors, there is more to do than just your holiday shopping. “We have outdoor market huts full of tasty treats and lots of different things to explore and eat,” said Edmonton Christmas Market’s executive director Kirsta Franke. “We really transform the indoor and outdoor spaces at Fort Edmonton Park with that Christmas flair.” Kids can play in the snow scapes and explore ice sculptures and take a ride on the carousel, street car or vintage sleigh. The Capitol Theatre will be hosting live performances of cabaret, music and dance during the festival. Please be advised that most shows are not included in the price of admission. The Edmonton Christmas Market has been operating since 2019 and runs Thursday through Sunday from Nov. 29 to Dec. 21. “A big priority of ours is supporting local wherever we can,” said Franke. “Whether it is local vendors that you can shop in our market hall, or any of our artists and performers that come from all across Alberta.” With files from CTV News Edmonton’s Gates Guarin
