A wildfire broke out in Sturgeon County on Saturday prompting an emergency advisory from the province. The RCMP said it was evacuating some residents because of the fire. RCMP said at 8:51 p.m. on Saturday that the fire had started on the north side of the river between Range Road 212 and 203 but had jumped the river. At 10:05 p.m. RCMP said the fire had not jumped the river, as they previously reported, adding crews are getting the fire under control. A wildfire alert was posted on the Alberta Emergency Alert page at 8:08 p.m. for residents in the area of Range Road 205 and Victoria trail. Strathcona County issued an alert to residents at 9:45 p.m. that smoke from the fire was blowing into the county, and asked people to only dial 911 in an emergency.
