After back-to-back days in double digits, temperatures will slip a bit today and Thursday. We’ll remain warmer than average... but daytime highs will pull back to the 5 to 8 C range. AND...we cool off even more for Friday, the weekend and beyond. Temperatures on Tuesday stayed above 0 C for the full 24 hours. By the end of the week, we’ll only get a handful of hours above 0 C each day. So...it’ll definitely start to FEEL more like mid-November. Cloudy this morning will give way to some sunshine for this afternoon in the Edmonton region and we’ll start Thursday with some sunny breaks. An area of low pressure will move in from the west and push some snow into northwestern Alberta early Thursday. That precipitation pushes east across the province through the day and it may start as showers in parts of central and north-central Alberta before flipping to snow in the evening/overnight. Several centimetres of snow is likely across northern Alberta by Friday morning. For the Edmonton area, most of the modelling doesn’t suggest a significant amount of precipitation and at this point, we’re not anticipating waking up to any snow on the ground Friday morning. BUT... I think there’s still some uncertainty with the location and duration of the snow. So, I’m going with a chance of showers flipping to flurries Thursday evening and then a SLIGHT chance of snow overnight with a slim possibility of some minor accumulation. Wind will turn gusty through the evening as that front pushes through and we’ll stay gusty Friday as the cooler air settles in. The weekend will be cool... but we’ll see a bit of sun and the wind should be light. Beyond Thursday night, the next chances for snow come Monday and Wednesday of next week. At this point, neither looks to have much potential to bring significant accumulation. So...if Edmonton doesn’t get any accumulation Thursday night, there’s a decent chance that we’ll get to the weekend of Nov. 22/23 without any (or much) snow on the ground. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Mostly cloudy this morning. Partly cloudy this afternoon.
