A cold front dropping through central Alberta brought some showers and mixed precipitation. The wet flurries should move out of the Edmonton area by mid-morning. But...flurries will continue into the early afternoon hours for parts of east-central Alberta and the Red Deer region. We’ll also get some flurries and/or wet snow in western Alberta throughout today. Temperatures will tumble throughout the day behind the cold front. We stayed above 0 C all night in Edmonton, but we’ll slip to the -3 C range by midday and should be in the -6 C range this afternoon. Main roadways with heavier/steadier traffic should just stay wet and sloppy throughout the day. But, watch for icing on side streets, sidewalks and some highways outside the city later today. Another blast of flurries may roll through the region this evening or overnight. But, I don’t think we’ll see any significant accumulation. If we get anything, it’ll be a dusting to a 1 cm. Warmer air rolls back in for Wednesday and Thursday. A low-pressure system tracks across northern Alberta on Wednesday bringing snow to the north. We’ll probably get some light snow in the Edmonton area Wednesday afternoon. Another low pressure system develops over north-central Alberta on Thursday and that system has the potential to drop a few centimetres of snow on Edmonton and surrounding regions. The coming weekend looks like a repeat of the past weekend. Cold, arctic air settles in for Friday/Saturday and then starts to retreat on Sunday.
