A former Alberta teacher who was convicted of sexually abusing a student has been granted full parole, just 16 months into her four-year sentence. The Parole Board of Canada granted Catherine Valiquette full parole on Feb. 27, nearly five months after she was released on day parole. According to court documents, Valiquette was a Grade 9 teacher at Graminia School in Parkland County when she began a sexual relationship with a then 15-year-old student in April 2022 that lasted for several months. She has not worked as a teacher since she was charged in August 2023. She pleaded guilty to sexual assault and sexual contact with a minor and was sentenced to four years in prison in October 2024.
