A warrant sweep conducted by several Alberta law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of 49 fugitives, the province says. The effort was led by Alberta Sheriffs in conjunction with the RCMP and the Edmonton Police Service, taking place from March 2 to 4. The province says 118 warrants were executed across 34 communities. “Operations like this demonstrate the strength of collaboration between policing partners across Alberta,” Sgt. Robert Daisley of the RCMP said in a news release. “By working alongside the Alberta Sheriffs and the Edmonton Police Service, we are able to share information, coordinate efforts and hold offenders accountable. Focusing our efforts on prolific offenders is what leads to dropping crime rates.” The province says in 2025 the Fugitive Apprehension Sheriffs Support Team of the Alberta Sheriffs executed more than 3,000 warrants and arrested more than 650 high-profile fugitives across Alberta.
