$200K in drugs, cash seized after homes searched in Alberta and Saskatchewan

Police found a significant amount of drugs and cash in a search of homes in Edmonton and St. Albert, Alberta and Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Alberta’s Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) say they have seized about $200,000 in drugs and cash after searching homes in Edmonton, St. Albert and Swift Current, Sask. on Oct. 21.

As a result of the warrants, ALERT seized 1,850 grams of cocaine, 192 grams of a suspected cocaine buffing agent, four grams of fentanyl and $24,340 in cash.

A 32-year-old man from Edmonton was arrested in Saskatchewan and was charged with multiple drug-related offences, said police.

Two others were arrested in Alberta, but no charges have been laid.

“Drug trafficking transcends borders and impacts all communities,” said ALERT Sgt. Rich Dejong in a news release. “In this case we were able to share criminal intelligence cross-province and make arrests.”

The investigation involved officers from ALERT Edmonton’s organized crime team, St. Albert RCMP, Swift Current RCMP, and the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Trafficking and Response Team.

The investigation dates back to May of this year when ALERT developed criminal intelligence concerning suspected drug trafficking activity.
