The father of a teen killed in Edmonton in 2024 says he's scared after hearing the man accused of killing his son is planning to file for bail.

The father of a teenage boy who was killed in Edmonton a year ago says he’s frustrated to learn his son’s accused killer might soon be out on bail.

Broden Radomske, 15, was walking with his mother and his dog in the area of 137 Avenue and 184 Street on the evening of May 21, 2024, when he was fatally stabbed.

Keith James Landry has been charged with second-degree murder in Broden’s death.

Broden’s father Clayton says victim services told him a bail hearing for Landry is scheduled for next month

“It’s upsetting. Very upsetting. It’s frustrating,” he told CTV News Edmonton on Thursday.

“My first response is, how do I make it so that people are aware this individual might be released out in the greater area of Edmonton and all the surrounding communities.”

Landry has been in custody since Broden’s death. His trial is set for next year.

“It rips a person apart again. You’ve got to go through that trauma,” he said.

“I’m not looking forward to it. I try to keep busy, just to keep my mental state clear.”

Clayton says Broden’s death has been difficult for his whole family, especially his youngest son.

“At first, I think he was in so much shock he didn’t realize until it really hit him when we had to plan the funeral.”

“And now he’s shut in a little bit, but now he’s slowly opening it up. I have them in therapy to try and help cope with this.”

He says Broden was an active teen with a big heart who would have turned 16 last month.

“We weren’t able to celebrate it. And 16 is a big year. You have the possibility to get your license. You’re going through a lot of life changes, and I wish I could have been there to help him go through it.”

He’s not sure if he’ll attend Landry’s bail hearing.

“I’m really debating whether or not I’m gonna show up to court that day. I don’t know if I want to. No doubt Mr. Landry will be in the courtroom that day.”

He hopes Landry will stay behind bars until next year’s trial.

“It shouldn’t be allowed. But then again, that’s our legal system that we have to deal with.”
